Rusty Cartwright (Jacob Zachar) is a college freshman studying at Cyprus-Rhodes University. He is the typical nerd who wants to outgrow and shed his geeky image, and pledges Greek in order to do so. Casey, his older sister and an active member of the Zeta Beta Zeta sorority, is dating Omega Chi Delta frat member Evan Chambers. Evan offers Rusty a place in his fraternity but gets declined after Evan is caught cheating with Rebecca Logan. Cappie, Casey’s ex-boyfriend and a member of the Kappa Tau, invites Rusty.

Dale, Rusty’s room mate, is concerned with Rusty’s involvement with the Greeks but eventually accepts the changes in Rusty’s lifestyle after he joins the Greeks, and even befriends Calvin, Rusty’s homosexual friend. Calvin is accidentally outed by Ashleigh. Rusty’s new girlfriend, Jen. K., writes an article in the newspaper describing the Greeks’ secrets, putting all of them in trouble. This forces Dean Bowman to lay down stricter rules for the Greeks, and the National Board for Zeta Beta Zeta forces Frannie, its president, to step down and have Casey take the throne.
